my doctor would be proud

looking down into the canyon
from the south side

from the south side of the canyon

the view from the bottom of
uncle tom's trail of the
lower falls

some of the 385 stairs leading down
uncle tom's trail and yes
i walked all of them plus the trail
going down to the stairs

bambi along the road

some of the fall foliage coming back
where the fires were years ago

the tower falls from the bottom
seems as though the trail was closed
and what the hell, i thought the other
shoes would be dry by the time
we got back to the camp ground
a long trail that had been washed out
for some time, i wondered across the
river 4 times before i got past the bad
part of the trail.

some mountain sheep between tower falls
and mammoth hot springs
and by the way the snow posts in the park
leave dents in new trucks

just a day out wandering

sunset at mammoth from last night

a willow swamp

enlarge this photo and see
if you see any future problem

i wondered around for about half an
hour trying to get the photos of the
beaver dam, trying not to get my feet
wet, them decided what the hell
my shoes will dry.

the water seems to be clean up here
these rocks are actually under
about 8 inches of water

i finally found the beaver dam
resourceful little guy

the pond behind the dam

our first day in yellowstone

not as much wild life as we expected

but we hope you enjoy what we saw

the repair shop

ok, we have finally made it to
west yellowstone.

i think that today if we make
it out of the camper it will
be a major accomplishment.

I did download some of the photos of the
repair shop that fixed everything for us

a 1934 lasale

an olds tornado with a dual rear axle
flatbed attached
just behind the drivers seat

anyone looking for a carburetor?
there is an entire truck full

the boys

sorry vicky, i know your dad will be envious
but doesn't this look familiar,
the color is wrong but it is an old
dump truck taking up the entire shop

the woes of the road

sorry there have been no
photos the last couple of days

we have seen nothing but the
inside of tire shops

we left glacier in the middle
of a driving rain storm on the 19th as scheduled
(the smart ones got hooked up before the rain)
by the time we got hooked up
we were both soaked to the bone.

that was the first part of our adventure

we made it all of 31 miles to the lovely
town of browning, mt before one of the tires
fell off of the trailer, I didn't even notice
why would i, who needs all 4 tires

some kind tourist pulled up beside us and said gosh
you might need the tire that just went flying off
somewhere behind that building a few blocks back.

i walked back to survey the damage when another
nice tourist pulled up in her new suv with our
tire stashed nicely in her back seat.

of course there was no one willing to give us assistance
the people of browning didn't seem to be very tourist friendly.

we decided to drive to cut bank and see what we could
find there.  we found a tire shop willing to jump
right in and help us out, after looking at the tire
studs he didn't feel comfortable with the length of the
old studs, it seemed we were not getting enough
bite with the lug nuts.  he could have new studs in by morning.

off we go heading off on our travels once again

we arrived at the next town about 30 miles down the road
when i let rose marie out to get something at the
drug store when she noticed that the brakes were
smoking.  we again started looking for some place
to have them looked at.  finally found a car quest and
were followed in by a couple of local characters who asked
if we were aware that we had a bad wheel bearing
of course knowing little more that wheel bearings
had something to do with the wheels I assumed
that it was the one that had grease leaking out of it.

wrong again, he walked me around to the other
side of the trailer to show me that one of the other tires
was about to fall off.  the two guys called a friend
who came down and had us follow him up to his shop
where a couple of more guys came out, looked and
promptly said gosh looks you got a problem.

when they started taking things apart, 2 of the wheels came off without
even the need for a lug wrench, the hubs just fell off.

so now the trailer is sitting out in front of their shop with all
4 tires off, 2 new hubs ordered 8 new bearings, all new seals
and 4 sets of new brakes, which we were the parts runners
85 miles each way. haven't been up there this morning but
I guess we will see whats happening soon.

old ranger station and actual photos of a bear

the oldest ranger station in glacier
built in 1932. since it was old
i thought black and white was in order

we saw another grizzley and another mt. goat but the new lense for the
camera doesn't want to focus at 2000 plus yards for the
goat and I had already put it back when they pointed out the grizzley.

so we drove down the road and there was this black bear munching
on some berrys so we spent about half an hour watching him.
