just a little wandering
today was another old house day.
we drove down to fredericksburg, va to tour a couple of
old places with some historic value.
its claim to fame is that it is the only private
home visited by thomas jefferson, george washington and abraham lincoln.
this is the kenmore house.
it belonged to george washington's sister and her husband.
george's mother lived just a couple of blocks behind this house.
the home contains some of the most elaborate plaster work
from colonial american times.
enough of the history lesson for today.
week decided to go out wandering by herself this morning
while i was doing a little repair on the plumbing, shower drain leaking
and trying to get the spare tire back under the trailer.
she was gone for about 1/2 hour, i looked but
couldn't see her anywhere until the birds started giving her hell.
i went into the bushes but still couldn't find, her but when i
came out of the bushes she was laying by the trailer with an
eat shit look on her face

a busy day
kellie jo and brandon welcomed zakk brandon into the family last night. he, mom and dad are doing great. he was 6 lbs 5 oz and 19 inches long
mt. vernon.
yesterday we toured the white house in dc, they wouldn't allow you to take a camera into the place so there are no photos as we left the camera in the truck.
we took the metro in and had no derailments or crashes, it was actually quite fun to avoid swearing at the stupidity of the drivers out here (not that i don't swear at drivers every place we go, due to the fact that i'm a perfect driver and everyone else has no clue).
we also went out to mt. vernon, not many good photos due to the fact that there were way to many people standing in front of the camera, but it was a beautiful area.

we made it to virginia
well we are here at the travel trailer village in dumfries, va. we drove up into dc yesterday after noon/evening but there were to many people kicking around on the plaza and no place to park tankasourous so we just did a bit of touring. we are going to tour the white house tomorrow taking the metro instead of the truck. today we did nothing at all, which was a nice thing.

washington, dc
what a great first impression of a great city. we spent the first 6 hours trying to get into dc from pa, seems that there was an accident on the freeway and we spent 3 hours going about 3 miles.
we drove in on thursday evening and stayed overnight down town to get a jump on the tours for today.
i don't think that they had ever valeted a vehicle on the scale of the truck, it wouldn't fit in the garage and ended up out on the street.
we toured the printing and engraving place in the morning, more money there than anyone deserves. the statement on the wall seems to have fit the bill "i printed more money in the last 2 minutes than i will make in my lifetime". they were printing $100 bills today. every day they print $750 mill.
rose marie spent
part of the
afternoon running
over a new
toyota
so if your
keeping score
this one
wasn't mine.
tour of the supreme court building, beautiful.
i can't believe that we are as a country still
paying someone to sit in an elevator and push
buttons for people who seem to have fingers
attached to their own hands, our tax dollars
at work, (in a bad way).
we are still camped in intercourse, pa until sunday and then we will atempt moving along to virgina, where we can take public transprotation to washington instead of putting the truck through another round. at this pace rose marie will have her white truck before you know it.

gettysburg
it was amazing to see frist hand what the cival war soliders went through at the battle of gettysburg, the amount of men that died, either during the battle or after the
battle due to infection after having a limb amputated.
if you ever get the opportunity to visit this place it is well worth the money to have a personal guide that rides along or drives your car.
rose marie and I had a great guide who was able to personalize the tour. the video is also well worth the money. i would recomend that you see the video frist before you take the tour, although the priviate guides are available on a first come first serve basis.

tony lukes on the south side of philly and then

a rough day at the races
seems that we were in kentucky for ever,
and then we ended up in west virgina god knows how.
wished we could have spent some time in cincinnati,
looked like a great town to wander around in.
made it all the way across ohio into pennsylvania.
had to replace one of the lenses on the camera, when we were in olney i dropped the camera
and shattered the lens into several pieces, (thus no photos) so we had to go into pittsburgh to a store that had a new one. while driving out of downtown pittsburgh we
hit a curb and blew out one of the tires on the trailer,
but not realizing it until is was just smoking several miles down the road.
No tools to change it and those tools we had were not the right ones,
and no AAA on the camper so i had to change it myself. I know wa-wa.
we then spent 3 hours to go 10 miles in the hills with no signs, backtracking several times with dueling banjos whispering through the trees, to get to the campground outside of Mill run where the most famous of the frank lloyd wright homes are.
If that doesn't let you know how our day went I'm not sure what will.
LOLOLOLOLOL its all we can do

the last couple of days
to do a little laundry, (ok a lot of laundry) and while doing so came
across and toured the linclon home and neighborhood, I can't imagine
how people lived in those times.
and today we drove up to champagn to visit with the turpin clan.
we had a great visit over dinner, and decided that it might be nice to
see each other somewhat more frequently than we have been.
